San Diego Travertine Cleaning and Restoration

Travertine is a beautiful stone that comes in different colors and finishes. Travertine can be filled or unfilled. Filled Travertine is Travertine that has had its holes filled in giving it a smooth finish. Over time holes will become exposed in the filled Travertine, but no need to worry because we can fill those for you so that your Travertine looks like new again.

Travertine may be honed (matte finish) or polished. These finishes need to be properly cared for and from time to time may require honing to remove scratches and etching or the stone may need to be re-polished and sealed.  Because Travertine tends to be more porous than other stones it is important to keep it properly sealed.  Excel Stone and Tile Care offers many services to keep your Travertine looking like new.  We use only the best diamond pads, abrasives and powders along with the latest technology to give you the best job possible.  We can clean, hone, polish and seal your Travertine and recommend a maintenance program to fit your specific needs.

If you have chips, scratches, etching, stains, lippage or dull spots we can take care of these problems for you.  We can also take care of any grout problems you may have including repairs and cleaning.

We can provide you with cleaners that are safe for your Travertine and educate you on the proper care of it. We do residential and commercial projects and can provide post construction cleaning and sealing.

Here are some suggestions to keep your Travertine looking like new:

  • Dust mop or vacuum with a soft bristled brush
  • Clean up spills immediately
  • Clean with a neutral pH cleaner
  • Always test any cleaner in an inconspicuous area
  • Remember that some latex backed area rugs my discolor your stone
  • Area rugs with a rough or course backing may scratch your stone

Our services can be performed on your floors, showers, walls, countertops and fireplaces.
